Eames Chairs - The right chair for every occasion.
In some cases, over the decades, only the height was adjusted or a selection of modern colors, fabrics and seat cushions were added. Recyclable materials were also developed and wood from German forestry was used. There is a purpose for each chair - while the Plastic and Fiberglass chairs can be used for many professional and public needs, the Aluminum chairs are for office work and the legendary Lounge Chair is for relaxation. A special feature is the Wire Chair DKR by Charles & Ray Eames from 1951, which was developed from chrome-plated wire with a view to saving resources. For those who love something special, the "La Chaise" may be the way to go - the recliner is inspired by the "Floating Figure" by artist Gaston Lachaise. Gaston Lachaise (1882-1935) was a French-American sculptor who influenced modernism in the United States.
Which Eames design is right for you? Plastic, Fiberglass, Lounge and Aluminum Chairs
No matter which chair you choose, you'll always be sitting right with an Eames Chair. The chairs are available with a simple seat shell or as an armchair. Every chair by Charles & Ray Eames cuts just as good a figure in the dining room as it does in the bistro, as a chair in the visitor or waiting area or in the office. The design of the chairs has often been copied and yet never equaled. You can find the matching frame and optionally a beautiful seat cover for the seat shell in the pro office store. By the way, the Eiffel Tower frame of the Eames Plastic DSR by the two designers also became a legend....
The Eames Plastic Chairs
The multifunctional Plastic Chairs are a further development of the Fiberglass Chair. The seat shell is made of recyclable polypropylene, and the DAR, DAW and LAR models offer comfortable armrests. You can rock gently in the RAR, while the PACC and PSCC swivel chairs keep you mobile in the office or home office. The DAX has a simpler underframe, while the DAL is the more elegant version. It gets really practical with the DSS, which can be linked as desired and stacked to save space.
Eames Fiberglass Chairs
The original Fiberglass chairs are made of fiberglass-reinforced through-dyed polyester. These chairs can last for many years outdoors with the powder coated base. Similarly, the Eames Plastic Side Chair DSR, which is one of the most famous chairs in the world, with its coated wire base is also suitable for outdoor use in the warmer seasons. While the Chair DSR and DSW, DAW and LAR have a complex underframe, the DSX and DAX are comparatively simple in design. The Fiberglass Chair RAR is the best place to "rock". In contrast to the Plastic chairs, the color selection of the Fiberglass chairs is smaller - but even here, the right furniture can be found.
Eames Lounge Chairs
An absolute specialty is the Eames Lounge Chair with or without Ottoman, made in high quality leather and wood. The chair with the soft seat cushion was developed as a modern version of the English club chair. Inspired by a baseball glove, the chair comes in black and white with a wide selection of fine woods. In addition to the classic height of 84 centimeters, the manufacturer also produces the furniture in new size of 89 centimeters to meet the increased growth in length. As in the 1950-ies, the Lounge Chair is mainly handmade in almost 50 steps.
Eames Aluminium Chairs
Design for the office: the couple Charles and Ray Eames designed a wide range of office chairs at the end of the 1950s, with versions in leather or fabric, with low or high backrests. In the pro office store you will find office swivel chairs with high or low back on 5-star base with castors or the classic chair for the meeting. Innovative for the 1950's was the make with leather, fabric or mesh material stretched between two aluminum side panels to replace the classic seat shell and a seat cushion. This technique provides a designer chair with high seating comfort.
