The Wooden Dolls by Alexander Girard
The famous hand-painted Wooden Dolls by Alexander Girard with their animal companions Wooden Doll Cat and Wooden Doll Dog are classics from the 60s. The decorative animals are each made in two different sizes and three individual parts, which are connected by magnets. Here the playful instinct is used, by turning and disassembling different figures are created. Alexander Girard is one of the most influential American designers of the post-war period; his trademark are the lively elements of folk art from South America, Asia and Eastern Europe.
Living accessories by Charles and Ray Eames
Cuddling with famous designers: in 1947, in the course of the "Dot Pattern Exhibition" at the New York Museum of Modern Art, the Wool Blanket was created with graphic motifs based on pictures of the 1930s. Due to the elaborate Jacquard weaving technique the blanket is equally beautiful on both sides.
The wool blankets are available in pleasant colours and are very skin-friendly due to the fine merino lambswool. For over 50 years the designer couple had a bird figure made of black wood in their rooms, which they often used as an accessory for photo shoots. Probably the Eames Bird, which Vitra rediscovered in 2007 as a re-edition, was made by the artisan Charles Perdew.
