The manufacturer USM Haller

The traditional company USM Haller U. Schärer Söhne AG was founded in Switzerland in 1885. The grandson of the company's founder Paul Schärer (1933-2011), together with architect Fritz Haller (1924-2012), developed the modular furniture system that can be disassembled and reassembled. USM Haller systems are environmentally friendly due to their enormous durability. The spherical connecting piece made of steel was patented by Paul Schärer in 1965. In 1980, the system was included in the State Museum of Applied Arts in Munich - and in 2001 in the Museum of Modern Art, where it has even graced the offices of the New York Museum of Art since 2004.
