100 years of Bauhaus
Bauhaus since 1919
100 years ago, Walter Gropius signed the contract to merge two Grand Ducal Saxon art schools. On this day, 1 April 1919, the State Bauhaus was established in Weimar. Walter Gropius resorted to great names such as Johannes Itten, Oskar Schlemmer and Paul Klee and won them over to work in a dozen workshops that he had previously built.

The radiance of the Bauhaus
The influence of the Bauhaus on architecture, design and art in the 20th century is enormous. The historic Bauhaus became the most influential educational institution in these fields. Today, 100 years later, we combine Bauhaus architecture with qualities such as objective and cool. A clear, simple style and a penchant for steel tubing have shaped the design of the past century, both nationally and internationally.
Famous designers
The Bauhaus has produced many great designs and many renowned designers and architects are responsible for the timeless designs. These include Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Mart Stam, Marcel Breuer, Christian Dell and many more.
Exhibitions on the occasion of the anniversary
