The designs of models S32 and S64 are icons of furniture construction with steel tube and true classics. The combination of pipe braiding, solid wood and steel pipe combine aesthetically with a chair with great recognition value. The architect and designer Marcel Breuer accepted the furniture construction with steel pipes as a new material. He designed a piece of furniture history with these models in the late 1920s. Thonet produced this series from 1930 onwards.

The natural material is given a deliberate patina, which assigns each furniture its own unique story and is uniquely beautiful. Marcel Breuer
The designer was born in 1902 in the town of Pecs in Hungary. Breuer studied for four years at the Weimar Bauhaus at the beginning of the 1920s. After the Bauhaus moved to Dessau, he was responsible for the workshop for 3 years. His designs of steel tube furniture fell into this era and are pioneering work. The Thonet S32 was designed for his Berlin time. From 1928 to 1931 he was an interior architect. This was followed by travel, which Breuer also used to design aluminum furniture. He also received a professorship at the Harvard University in Cambridge and opened an architectural office with Walter Gropius. His own studio opened in 1946 and numerous designs for Europe and the USA followed. The outstanding architect and designer died in 1981 in New York.
