TECNOLUMEN - Bauhaus lamps & more
Since 1980 the company name TECNOLUMEN stands for timelessly beautiful lamps with character. The Dutch De Stijl and the German Bauhaus movement stood for a reform of art and culture, a kind of ascetic purism in an abstract design language based on a few principles of design by opposites and limited to the primary colors yellow, red, and blue and the non-colors black and white. Important designers such as Mart Stam (1899-1986), Wilhelm Wagenfeld (1900-1990), Egon Eiermann (1904-1970) or the architect Eckart Muthesius (1904-1989) can be found in the brands portfolio. TECNOLUMEN produces floor lamps, ceiling lamps, pendant lamps, table lamps of these famous designers. All lamps (metal nickel-plated or brass polished) are numbered and signed: you can find the lettering TECNOLUMEN / BAUHAUS under the base.
The table lamp WA 24 and WG 24 founded the company TECNOLUMEN
The manufactory TECNOLUMEN has its home port in the Hanseatic city of Bremen. The famous Wagenfeld lamp WA 24 and WG 24 were the reason for the foundation in 1980. The art collector Walter Schnepel (1941*) received the license from Wilhelm Wagenfeld personally to produce the lamps. Schnepel discovered the lamp with the iconic design by chance in Wagenfeld's studio while searching for woodcuts. The art collector and merchant was so convinced by the lamps that he took the financial risk to produce 250 of them. After some initial difficulties, the table lamp was sold out within a short time. Today TECNOLUMEN is a well-known manufacturer of Bauhaus originals.
Timelessly beautiful: the famous Wagenfeld table lamp
The lamp from 1924 was originally intended to be a purely industrial product according to Bauhaus ideology, but still consists in parts of handwork. Due to technical developments (for example, VDE certification), small adjustments were made in consultation with Wagenfeld. The core has remained - a no-frills combination of glass and metal in first-class quality. The individual parts are mainly produced in Germany or in other European countries and assembled in Bremen.
