Perfect design from 1924

The company TECNOLUMEN was founded and developed for the production of the Bauhaus table lamp WA 24 and WG 24. Both abbreviations stand for Wagenfeld, 24 is the shortened year 1924. The timelessly beautiful lamps can now be equipped with LED bulbs (e27). Originated the lamp in the wake of the Bauhaus movement, the German reform of craftsmanship in the 1920-ies, which was abstract and straightforward and got along with the basic colors. Wilhelm Wagenfeld designed this lamp, and TECNOLUMEN still produces it today. Company founder Walter Schnepel (1941*) fatefully discovered it in Wagenfeld's workshop - the art collector actually wanted to acquire woodcuts.

The Bauhaus table lamps WA 24 WG 24 and the manufactory TECNOLUMEN
The manufactory TECNOLUMEN is located in the Hanseatic city of Bremen and was founded in 1980, when Schnepel first started with 250 Wagenfeld lamps and now manufactures other Bauhaus originals and modern classics - classic design combined with modern technology such as VDE certification. The renowned company TECNOLUMEN also manufactures precision-fit spare parts for the Bauhaus table lamps.

Timelessly beautiful - The Wagenfeld table lamps WA 24 and WG 24

The lamp is made of metal (nickel-plated) or glass. The shade for both lights is made of opal glass, so that the light is perfectly diffused. The Wagenfeld lamp was the first electric lamp that allowed diffused light in the living room. The socket of the lamp stands on a cylinder made of metal (WA 24) or optionally clear glass (WG 24), in which the power cord is located. Through the stem passes a cord with pull switch, which ends in a nickel-plated metal ball. The outer power cord is covered with textile. The base also has a geometric shape - "maximum simplicity with economic efficiency" and "a form that follows function". The designer Wilhelm Wagenfeld

Wilhelm Wagenfeld (1900 -1990) was one of the pioneers of industrial design, today we would call him a product designer. His Wagenfeld Lamp is one of the Bauhaus classics, for which Wagenfeld applied for a patent. He learned the profession of industrial draftsman at the age of fourteen and from 1916 attended the Bremen School of Applied Arts, the Hanau Drawing Academy and the Worpswede Artists' Colony. From 1923 he studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar in the metal workshop. The table lamp with the 5/8 glass bell is still one of Wagenfeld's most famous designs. From 1926 he was a member of the Deutscher Werkbund, and two years later he took over as head of the metal workshop at the Bauhaus. He worked at the Schott & Gen. glassworks in Jena and held a professorship at the Berlin State School of Art. Because he refused to work for the National Socialists, he was transferred to a penal battalion on the Eastern Front. After his return from captivity, he was a professor at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin. In 1954 he went to Stuttgart to found the Wagenfeld workshop, which lasted until 1978. In his own workshop he worked for renowned companies such as Braun, Rosenthal and WMF.
