"Eames Wool Blanket by Vitra"
Design: Charles und Ray Eames, 1947
Creation of the dot pattern
In order to realize ideas of materials, colors and shapes, many of the great designers and architects of the 20th century dealt with the design of textiles. Charles and Ray Eames are no exception. Thus, in 1947, in connection with the exhibition in MOMA New York, the "Dot Pattern" was created. The graphic variations of motifs and circles result in a spacious composition. In the design, a reference to paintings of the 30s by Ray Eames can be seen.
The pattern of Wool Blankets is processed in a special weaving technique. The Jacqaurd technique ensures that the color of the pattern on the back is exactly the opposite.
The blankets are available in different colors and are made of fine merino lambswool. The light and fine natural fiber ensures optimal heat balance and has a very pleasant feel.
The processing of this high-quality material requires extensive manual and technical know-how. For this reason, the production of Vitra blankets is in the hands of a German ceiling manufacturer with over 100 years of experience in natural fiber processing. To ensure high-quality implementation, a lot of manual work is required.
