Genuinely handcrafted by Raw-Edges from a 2019 design, Herringbone Vessels ceramic vessels are dipped several times in coloured glaze at a specific angle. Herringbone is reminiscent of a popular classic, the herringbone pattern that gave this ceramic its name. Herringbone patterns belong in a broader sense to the zigzag shapes that were already used in prehistoric times. They symbolise the fruit stalks of an ear of corn. Due to the handwork, the angle when dipping and the shape of the objects, each vase is individual. The Herringbone Vase is available in the colours yellow and green (fluted) and mint and sand (smooth). The Herringbone Bowl in mint or sand, the Herringbone Tray coaster in green and yellow in your pro office shop. The designs come from the furnishings on the 1st floor of the Vitra House on the campus in Weil am Rhein.
Raw-Edges, the modern designers
Raw-Edges is the name of the studio of the designers Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay, who met in Jerusalem and studied at the Royal College of Art in London until 2007. They became known for the colourful Stack chest of drawers and the Tailored Wood bench. The two unconventional works received several design awards and are exhibited at MoMA in New York, among other places. The two young designers also created the floor of Stella McCartney's fashion shops in Milan, London, Paris, New York and Tokyo. The trademark of Raw-Edges is the development of new materials and production methods with a surprise factor.
