The extraordinary Vitra Vlinder sofa
Are you looking for a special piece of furniture for the office or living room? With the Vitra Vlinder Sofa by Hella Jongerius you work or live right. The soft upholstery of the Vlinder is made of multi-layer foam and together with down filled throw offers inimitable comfort. The extravagant sofa combines the classic shape with a fabric throw in the shape of a butterfly. The cover fabric consists of eight colors and yarns in two different thicknesses and seven jacquard weaves. The weave patterns and colors flow smoothly into each other, creating an abstract pattern full of depth. The cover seems to flow over the seat, back and armrests. The body is only visible on the armrests and back of the sofa. The fabric harmonizes with the colors of the throw, as is to be expected from the designer. Choose your personal favorite: Light Reds, Dark Reds Light Greens and Dark Greens. Hella Jongerius
Hella Jongerius (*1963) studied design at the Design Academy Eindhoven after her apprenticeship as a carpenter. After her graduation she worked in the designer collective Droog Design in Amsterdam before she founded her own label Jongeriuslab in Rotterdam in 1993. Since 2007, the Dutchwoman is Art Director for colors & materials at Vitra. Since 2013 she designs carpets for the internationally known company Danskina. "Breathing Colour" was the name of one of her noted exhibitions in 2017, which presented theories of color and light in the daily routine.
