The Aluminium Chair EA 117 office swivel chair in Hopsak fabric by Vitra: the chairs of the Aluminium Group are the best-known designs by Charles and Ray Eames. The Aluminium Chairs were created in 1958 and count among the classics of twentieth-century design history. A defining feature of the Aluminium Chair is the intelligent way its materials are joined. Its form is clear and transparent, the construction plainly visible. Aluminium profiles give the chair stability and lightness at once. The cover is fixed into the side profiles and spans freely between them, so it adapts to the body and provides comfort without elaborate padding. The cover is not a casing but part of the construction.

Manufacturer's guarantee

Vitra provides a 30-year guarantee on the Eames Aluminium Group, calculated from the date of purchase. It requires the product to be registered at vitra.com within six months of purchase, together with the original invoice; without registration there is no entitlement under the guarantee. The guarantee applies to purchases made on or after 1 January 2024 and covers both private and business use. A two-year guarantee applies instead to pneumatic cylinders, castors, glides, fittings, height and tilt adjustment mechanisms, motors and electronic components. The guarantee applies in addition to the legal guarantee of conformity and does not restrict it.
