Which material for outdoor furniture?
Outdoor furniture from Vitra is suitable for outdoor use if through-dyed polypropylene, powder-coated steel or aluminium are used. Polypropylene does not tire, is resistant to grease and organic solvents, physiologically harmless and corrosion-resistant. A powder coating protects steel permanently against the effects of weather. Aluminium is stable, has a long service life, good corrosion and weather resistance in the form of frost, rain and sun.

The Bistro Table by the brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec was developed in 2009 to 2010. The Vitra Bistro Table in the version with solid core material is also suitable for outdoor use. The stable base is elegant at the same time, the table top is available in round or rectangular versions. The weatherproof solid core material is available in three colours: white, pastel grey or black. The black table top has an anti-fingerprint coating that makes fingerprints invisible. The base of the Bistro table is powder-coated in basic dark (RAL 9004) and can compensate for floor unevenness by a maximum of 10 millimetres. The Vitra Belleville Table was also designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. As the name of the furniture suggests, the attractive table can embellish any place, indoors or outdoors. The Belleville Table is available as a bistro table with a round or square tabletop with a star-shaped base. For those who have larger plans and like to enjoy their coffee or lunch outdoors, the Belleville Table is also available as a dining table in different sizes. The legs of the table are T-shaped, the model with the solid core material and the powder-coated base in deep black is ideally suited for outdoor enjoyment.

Vitra Belleville Armchair

The Vitra Belleville Table does not come alone, but comes with the matching armchair. The design of the Belleville Armchair comes from Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, who work together in their internationally renowned design studio in Paris, where both brothers studied decorative arts beforehand. The chair from 2015 is available in indoor and outdoor versions as a weather-resistant and timeless bistro chair. Its characteristically curved armrests offer a pleasant comfort. The Vitra APC by designer Jasper Morrison from 2016 is also formally sophisticated. It is reminiscent of a classic chair made of wood, but offers similar stability and more comfort. The Vitra Panton Chair - the design icon
The Panton Chair is an icon from the 1960s and 1970s that has endured to this day. From now on, the design classic is also available in a new height, the seat height of 44 centimetres has been adapted to the human growth in length. The chair also adapts to the body thanks to its ergonomic shape, which means a high level of seating comfort. The Vitra Panton Chair is an eye-catcher both inside and out. In the business sector, in restaurants and cafés, it magically attracts customers. Meanwhile, the chair is also available in other colours, it is 100% recyclable and GREENGUARD certified. The Eames Plastic Armchair DAR by Charles & Ray Eames

Charles and Ray Eames developed the Plastic Chairs in the early 1950s. The designer couple influenced the Mid-Century Style. The Dining Height Armchair became famous for its base, which is reminiscent of the famous Eiffel Tower thanks to its filigree but stable construction made of steel wire. The Dining Height Armchair Rod Base variant is powder-coated and therefore suitable for outdoor use. The plastic of the seat shell withstands the weather. The DAR and the Panton Chair are also ideally suited for private rooms, the office or the home office.

The Vitra Landi Chair - a real outdoor classic

The Vitra Landi Chair is designed purely as an outdoor chair, but the lightweight chair also looks appealing indoors. The then revolutionary chair was developed in 1938 for the Swiss National Exhibition the following year. This milestone in the history of design was designed by linguist Hans Coray (1906-1991). The chair is made of aluminium, its seat shell is connected to the base by two crossbars. Armrests and chair legs are two in one. The 91 holes ensure lightness. The use of materials is low, but the production is complex and involves a lot of manual work. The weatherproof Landi chair can be stacked up to six high.

Accessories - Trays from Vitra

To really enjoy life outdoors, the trays from Vitra are a help. The Vitra Classic Trays were relaunched in 2020 with patterns by famous designers such as Alexander Girard and Charles & Ray Eames. Some of the trays are available in three sizes up to 60 cm in diameter. Dishes and glasses can be transported on the stable material made of wood (laminated plywood). The award-winning Sea Things underwater world from 1945 belongs directly on the table with products by designer Jasper Morrison that follow his philosophy of the super normal. These include the Vitra Rotary Tray etagere or the Vitra High Tray presentation bowl. In addition, Morrison has designed flat bowls made of plastic in a set of three with the Trays (2018) tray sets, which are exactly coordinated in colour and proportions. A tidy feeling of living is created with the Vitra S-Tidy. The stable and colourful organiser in the shape of a snake comes from 2016 by designer Michel Charlot, who also designed the Vitra O-Tidy.
