Dynamic and ergonomic sitting with Tip Ton
The Tip Ton is 10 years young and stands for dynamic and ergonomic sitting in two sitting positions. The Vitra Tip Ton is designed to remain stationary at the 9 degree tilt, which has a positive effect on health. Because the pelvis and spine of the sitter are straightened, blood circulation in the back and abdominal muscles, muscle activity and oxygen supply improve. The all-plastic chair is durable and sturdy, and looks great indoors or out. Up to four chairs can be stacked - up to 15 on the matching stacking cart. The Chair is available in eight colors and is easy to clean.
Design by Barber & Osgerby
The Tip Ton was an archetype of a chair. First, the two designers had to build many models and try different angles. The decision was made in collaboration with ETH Zurich in favor of the 9-degree angle. After the initial uncertainties, the chair was able to establish itself internationally within just ten years. Originally developed for schools and universities, the chair with the striking design has since proven itself as a universal chair. Initially, the two Brits were not sure whether the idea could be realized, as it seemed too expensive to manufacture. The production should be done by injection molding, only with the manufacturer Vitra the right partner for the realization was found. The family-owned company Vitra is also familiar with complicated manufacturing methods and stands for sustainable products.
A chair evolves....
The chair has evolved in terms of color and content. There are now eight colors from manufacturer Vitra and the variant Vitra Tip Ton RE made of gray recycled material, which can even be recycled again and again by type. A chair should be so durable that its production is worthwhile, because the production also consumes energy.
