From mechanical engineering to design
Alberto Meda was born in Lenno Tremezzina (Italy) in 1945 and is an industrial designer who lives in Milan. After completing a mechanical engineering degree in 1969, he decided to change his design. In 1973 he became technical director of the company Kartell (until 1979). After he had gained some experience there, he became self-employed. Meda works for many companies, including Vitra, Brevetti Gaggia, Alessi, Luceplan and Ideal Standards. Since 1983 he has also been working as a lecturer at various universities. From 1983 to 1987 Alberto taught industrial engineering in Milan, from 1995 to 1997 he was integrated into the board of the design laboratory in Bremerhaven.
Some of his works can also be found in museums around the world, including Toyama and New York. In our shop you can find office chairs designed by him.
