Hans J. Wegner was a Danish architect, furniture designer and carpenter. Wegner, born in Tondern in 1914, was a trained carpenter and studied furniture design at the Copenhagen School of Applied Arts. Wegner designed a wide range of furniture, including tables and chairs for Aarhus Town Hall, which was designed by Arne Jacobsen. Wegner has received numerous awards, the Royal College of Art in London awarded him an honorary doctorate.
