The Thonet S 43 PVFDR - from classic S 43 to modern office chair
The S 43 cantilever chair was first produced by the Thonet company in 1931 and became a modern classic because the combination of wood and tubular steel was new and a milestone in ergonomic sitting. A Bauhaus designer, the Dutchman Mart Stam, had designed the modern cantilever chair, a chair that manages with only two legs.
In the meantime, the manufacturer Thonet has designed the chair as a swivel chair, which can be seen in the home office, in the studio or in the office. In contrast to the S 43 PVDR armchair, the Thonet S 43 PVFDR has comfortable armrests. The chairs have a steel frame (chrome-plated) and are infinitely adjustable by means of a gas spring. Thanks to their five-star base, the furniture offers secure support. The back and seat are comfortably upholstered.
