"Thonet swivel armchair S 43 DR FDR"
Design: Mart Stam, 1931
The tubular steel classic S 43 as swivel chair S 43 DR & FDR for the workplace and the studio
The carpenter and Bauhaus lecturer Mart Stam (1899-1986) was awarded the artistic copyright for the tubular steel cantilever chair by the Reichsgericht Leipzig in 1932. The elegant, modern chair was a counter-design to the established heavy upholstered furniture. The Dutch designer combined the chrome-plated tubular steel frame with moulded beech wood parts for the seat and back, ensuring a comfortable sitting experience. In 1931, the Bauhaus artist designed the S 43, which was used to furnish the National Library in Leipzig in 1933. The furniture was supplemented 70 years later by the manufacturer Thonet with further chairs. This is a fine example of the fact that high quality is long-lasting and sustainable. With the THONET S 43 DR or FDR, you are choosing furniture with uncompromising quality and functional design that is clearly constructed and aesthetically pleasing. In the pro office shop, you can get the chair in different versions, beech stained black or top-coated pure white.
The THONET S 43 DR swivel chair without armrests
With the THONET S 43 DR you get the straight-lined classic without armrests for the office, the home office or for private use. The 5-legged base offers safety and freedom of movement.
The swivel chair with armrests THONET S 43 FDR
Do you prefer armrests? The THONET S 43 FDR offers them. Like the base, the armrests are chrome-plated. The classic on castors is suitable for the home office, the office or private rooms. Like the S 43 DR, the S 43 FDR also has the secure underframe on five castors.
