Thonet cantilever chairs, since 1929
The chairs with the cantilever construction are also available as upholstered chairs with their design, which has its origins in 1929 and with designer Mart Stam. The S 64 PV Pure Materials is such a chair and, like the other models, impresses with its excellent workmanship. In the Pure Materials versions, THONET uses environmentally friendly materials for the chairs. Sitting in one of these THONET chairs is also a special haptic experience.
The S 32 from Marcel Breuer
The Thonet S 32 cantilever chair, which has been produced since the 1930s, is a classic that still shines today with its timeless design and first-class workmanship. One of the chairs that stand out for the beautiful material mix of tubular steel, wood and wickerwork alone. Unlike the Thonet S64, the cantilever chair made of bent tubular steel is equipped without armrests. The design of the S32 and S64 is by Marcel Breuer (artistic copyright Mart Stam). The years of creation of these timeless cantilever chairs are 1929/30, and they are probably among the best known and most produced cantilever chairs by Thonet.

The material is ideally suited for use as a free-swinging frame. Thonet also recognized this very early on and secured the rights to designs by design greats such as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier, Mart Stam and Marcel Breuer, who was already experimenting with the material in the 1920s.
