"Vitra Citizen Highback armchair"
Design: Konstan Grcic
Vitra Citizen Highback for the home, office or home office
Design 2020 means swinging instead of sitting: The "Citizen", in German Citizen, is the new chair design by Konstantin Grcic. The seat of the chair hangs on three ropes that allow it to swing slightly. The hanging seat cushion seems to float above the swivel base. The mobile seating feeling is reinforced by the frame, as the chair is designed as a cantilever chair. The back of the chair is firmly connected to the stable steel frame. The armchair with the high backrest is a beautiful, unobtrusive lounge chair with a room-shaping effect. The Lowback version (with low backrest) is also available in the pro office Shop. The chairs can also be excellently grouped and define private and public areas. Cover fabrics can be freely selected from a modern colour palette.
The designer Konstantin Grcic
Konstantin Grcic, born in 1965, grew up in Wuppertal as the son of a gallery owner. His older sister Tamara Grcic also developed into an artist. Grcic trained as a cabinetmaker in England and then studied industrial design at the Royal College of Art. He worked as an assistant to Jasper Morrison and founded his own design studio Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design in 1991. Many of his designs receive international acclaim because Grcic uses unusual materials and production techniques, as in his famous chair Chair One from 2002. This armchair is composed in three dimensions and is made by die-casting aluminium.
