Vitra Fauteuil Direction by Jean Prouvé

Product information

"Vitra Fauteuil Direction by Jean Prouvé"

Design: Jean Prouvé

Not only for directors: the Vitra Fauteuil DirectionThe Direction armchair for directors, the Fauteuil Direction, fits equally well at the dining table, the conference table or in the home office. The chair also fits into elegant lobbies or upscale gastronomy, where it is comfortable to sit at tables. Jean Prouvé designed the chairs in 1951 in his typical design language, which is based on the requirements of the construction - with great stability at the back. Matching the chair, the article "EM Table" is available in the pro office store.

The design of the furniture

The Direction fauteuil is available with a fabric or leather upholstery, with a generous choice of colors for both versions, including classic and modern tones. The high-quality cover material twill consists of 70% virgin wool and 30% polyamide. The armrests can be optionally oiled in solid wood, natural or smoked oak, or manufactured as American walnut. The base frame of the products is powder-coated.

The engineer and designer Jean Prouvé (1901-1984)

Jean Prouvé was actually a trained blacksmith when he set up his own workshop in Nancy in 1924. There he created numerous furniture designs. In 1947 Prouvé built his own factory. After 1953 he worked as a consulting engineer on large building projects. In the construction of the famous Centre George Pompidou, he contributed to the jury's decision in favor of the plan by Piano and Rogers.
