The Vitra Citizen Lowback for your home, your home office or the office
The Vitra Citizen Lowback enables gentle swinging instead of rigid sitting: The "Citizen", (translated Citizen), is the new chair by designer Konstantin Grcic from the year 2020. The seat of the chair is attached to three ropes that allow it to swing. Visually, the suspended seat cushion hovers above the swivel base. The chair is designed as a cantilever chair, so that mobile sitting is also supported by the frame of the chair. The back of the chair is fixed to the resilient steel frame. The armchair with the low backrest has an unobtrusive design and can be perfectly integrated in private and public spaces. It also cuts a good figure in a group. The Highback version (lounge armchair with high backrest) is also available in the pro office shop. Modern upholstery fabrics can be freely selected from a beautiful colour palette.
Konstantin Grcic - The designer
Konstantin Grcic, born in 1965, grew up as the son of a gallery owner in Wuppertal. His older sister, Tamara Grcic, is a renowned artist. Grcic first learned the profession of cabinetmaker in England and then studied industrial design in London at the Royal College of Art. He first worked as an assistant to Jasper Morrison before founding his design studio Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design in 1991. Grcic is internationally recognised for his use of unconventional materials and techniques to create spectacular designs. One of his most famous products is the 2002 Chair One; a three-dimensional armchair made of die-cast aluminium.
