Modern Lounge Chair: Vitra Eames Aluminium EA 124
The design for the Aluminium Lounge Chair by Charles and Ray Eames dates back to 1958 and is attributed to the Aluminium Group. The internationally successful designer couple constructed the chair without a seat shell, instead fabric or leather panels were stretched tightly, but resiliently, between the two side parts of aluminum. The furniture from manufacturer Vitra offers a high level of comfort - even with little padding - as the chair adapts to the seated body. The chair with its high backrest also has an adjustable reclining mechanism.
The designers Charles and Ray Eames
Charles and Ray Eames married in 1941 and worked together on the technique of deforming plywood. Later they jointly developed the Plastic Chair and the Fiberglass Chair, including the famous Eiffel Tower frame.
