Louis Poulsen provided pendant lamp PH5 in 2020 a new outfit - Monochrome, which means one color. The lamp is available in black, white or blue. The striking design by Poul Henningsen was originally created in 1958. Even then, the item was 100% glare-free due to symmetrical light distribution and light that is directed to the side and downwards. The easy-care surface of the pendant lamp is made of aluminum, matt powder-coated, the glare control is painted. The lights with the three-meter textile cable are designed for bulbs with E27 socket for a maximum of 75 watts.
The designer Poul Henningsen
Poul Henningsen (1894-1967) studied at the Frederiksberg Technical School and the Technical College in Copenhagen, which he left without a university degree. He worked as a writer and architect, representing Danish functionalism. In addition, the designer was a convinced anti-fascist. From 1925 until his death, he worked with the company Louis Poulsen Lighting. The Louis Poulsen PH5 lamp was named after its designer with the initials PH and after its diameter of 50 centimeters. The pendant lamp made Henningsen internationally known and provided him with a living, with which he financed his projects.
