Artemide Eclisse

The table lamp Artemide Eclisse - a real classic from the sixties.
The table lamp or wall lamp Eclisse was designed in 1967 by Vico Magistretti for the Milanese manufacturer Artemide and was awarded the Compasso d'Oro. The selectable color, red, orange or white is reminiscent of the 1970-ies. The cable and the base are black. The lamps serve in the living room or study as a table lamp or wall lamp.

The Artemide Eclisse - a table lamp for all occasions
The lamp's bulb is covered by a rotating open sphere that works like a dimmer. The name Eclisse is reminiscent of Eclipse, which means solar eclipse or darkening. The head of the Eclisse lamp can be manually rotated so that the light shows all nuances, direct or indirect, stronger or weaker. When the sphere completely covers the illuminant, the light shines out from the sides of the table lamp. When illuminant is fully visible, the light illuminates the room directly. With a flick of the wrist, you can create the right atmosphere for reading, relaxing or working. Designer Vico Magistretti (1920-2006)
Magistretti studied architecture at the Polytechnic in Milan until he emigrated to Switzerland in 1943. He returned to Milan in 1945. He worked first as an architect and from the 1960-ies as an industrial designer, where, in addition to Artemide, he also worked for brands such as Rosenthal. His Carimate chair is considered a symbol of "Swinging London". For his table lamp "Atollo" he received the coveted design award Compasso d'Oro in 1979. Some of his items are part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
