The one-part, organic shell offers a high sitting comfort in combination with the hidden construction of a flexible backrest as well as the continuous upholstery for a long time.
On the one hand, the design of the Softshell Chair emphasizes individual privacy. On the other hand, it also supports the relaxed entertainment of a family dining area - or the communication structures of a home office.
Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec
The designers were born in 1971 and 1976 in Quimper, France and studied in Paris. After his training Ronan started to work alone. His brother assisted him during his training. Both have been running a design studio in Paris since 1999. Apart from office and home furniture, porcelain dishes, vases, jewelery and various living accessories, they also design rooms and interiors. "Algue" was an unconventional product. The collaboration with Vitra began in 2000. Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have, as well as eg. Antonio Citterio and Jasper Morrison, share in the ever-growing Vitra Home Collection.
