Product information

"Vitra Miniature Chair Tom Vac"

Vitra Miniature Chair Tom Vac, Arad, 1999 - Vitra Miniature Design Museum

Vitra Miniature of the Miniature Collection Vitra Design Museum . The Tom Vac Chair was first realized as an element of an existing stack of 70 chairs sculpture called " Totem " which was commissioned by the magazine Domus during the Salone del Mobile 1997 in Milan city center. The seat shell with the characteristic wave profile based on earlier sketches Ron Arad for the dining room of a house in Tel Aviv. The first small series for " Totem " was built in only four months. To produce deep drawn aluminum proved to be suitable , although expensive to manufacture material. With the furniture manufacturer Vitra , for which he had in 1986 already realized the " Well Tempered Chair " Ron Arad developed in a very short time a device suitable for mass production version of the Tom Vac Chair. In Arad largely of " One Offs " embossed work represents the chair in its industrial and therefore cost-effective production , a novelty dar. During the Tom Vac Chair from the first draft formally deviates only slightly , the elastic polypropylene seat offers great seating comfort .
