Vitra Miniature of the Miniature Collection Vitra Design Museum . The Belgian designer Maarten Van Severen and interior designer was one of the intrinsically most willing figures of the international design world. His work was characterized by the intensive study of a few basic furniture types: chair , table , bed, shelf and cupboard, for which he again developed primary solutions . As for Jean Prouvé experimenting in the workshop and the physical examination of the material was a crucial part of the design process for Van Severen . According to he presented the mid-1990s , when his collaboration with industrial partners began all his designs in their own , set up in 1987 workshop ago . This is also the chair CN º II (later .02 ) , which he presented in 1992. The seat and backrest of this formally simple chair are made of one continuous piece of material - either made of aluminum sheet or a thin plywood - which rests like a leaf on a base made of aluminum. On the basis of the CN ° II Van Severen later developed with Vitra, the chair .03 , which came to market in 1998 and marked his international breakthrough as a designer.
