Vitra Eames RAR - Clever combined
The RAR Plastic Armchair is a rocking chair by Vitra. Like the other models of the Plastic Armchair series, it has an organic molded seat shell with integrated armrests. This is combined with an optionally chrome-plated or black powder-coated wire frame and with rocking runners made from maple to the Rocking Armchair Rod Base. The seat shell is available in various colors.
The production of the first designs goes back to the year 1946 and to the production plant of Herman Miller in Zeeland, Michigan. There, the furniture designed by Charles and Ray was made of bended wood. Two years later, in 1948, the first designs of the Plastic Side Chair were held for the "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. These were finally the first plastic chairs, which were manufactured in series. In 1957 the manufacturer Vitra from Wheil am Rhein took over the production of plastic chairs in Europe. Until 1993, the seat shells of the chairs were made of polyester resin. For environmental reasons, Vitra abandoned the further use of the material and stopped production. 6 years later, recyclable polypropylene was used for the production of the seat shells and the production of plastic chairs was resumed.

In 1940 he took over the management of the department for industrial design at the university. In the same year his future wife, Ray, was enrolled at the university, and both married a year later. In 1949 the famous "Eames House" was built. Charles was next to the furniture design, among other things. Active in the field of photo and film.
The rocking chair
The plastic chairs are classic and modern. The furniture of the designer pair still looks timeless to this day. As a small rocking chair, the Plastic Armchair is a unique view in every room. It is available in a wide range of colors and can be easily adapted to any place. Optionally, the chair is also available as a swivelling and visitor chair. It can be used in the waiting area on a traverse.
There is also a small version
The miniature model can be found here: Mini-RAR
Note: Special additives slow the bleaching of the colors by UV irradiation. If the chair is exposed to the sun for an extended period of time, the color can still change. Vitra advises not to expose the chair to the sun for longer than necessary.
