Sustainability

Not all sustainability is the same. Sustainability can mean many things and encompass many areas. Modern companies not only take responsibility by using sustainable materials or renewable energies. Sustainability also includes treating employees responsibly, having a positive influence on society and responsible corporate governance. At its core, the word “sustainable” actually just means “having an effect over a long period of time”. In our everyday use, the word usually has a positive connotation and is almost always equated with environmental issues.

Sustainability at pro office
The manufacturers at pro office are committed to sustainable action. Companies such as Vitra, Thonet, Fritz Hansen and USM have extensively documented their pursuit of the most positive possible effect on their ecological balance, their social and economic actions. Sustainable office furnishings are not limited to the products alone, but include much more. Things like sustainable human resource management and sustainable economic growth also play a role for the manufacturers. Companies in Germany and worldwide are working on being more sustainable and on producing furniture sustainably.
At pro office, sustainable office furniture combines different approaches to sustainability. Our manufacturers Vitra, Thonet, USM and Fritz Hansen have their own unique concepts and approaches to sustainability. Some of them are also FSC and ISO certified, or have received awards for their commitment and environmentally friendly management. Be inspired and find sustainable furniture for your office.

Vitra

As a company, Vitra also relies on energy from solar and hydroelectric power for its manufacturing and office space. An important part of environmental management is to reduce environmental impacts in development, production and distribution. The Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein also exemplifies this concept. Instead of large-scale development and asphalting, plants and beehives can be found here, which are intended to promote and maintain biodiversity. At Vitra, however, sustainability means more than just environmentally friendly production and manufacturing long-lasting products. The manufacturer also applies this to its own human resources management, which is designed to promote the individuality and creativity of its own employees, to support them with an in-house daycare center and to hire a diverse workforce.

Thonet

Thonet is ISO certified in the areas of environment and quality. The manufacturer continues to strive for an increase in quality, sustainability and environmental awareness. The company trains its employees accordingly. These topics are equally important goals for the company, alongside conservation and economic activity. Thonet has established a set of principles to underpin its commitment to greater environmental protection. In it, Thonet states that the environment should be actively protected by building furniture that is durable, both in terms of appearance and aesthetics. The company also offers a repair service. This means that furniture does not have to be disposed of, but can be reconditioned by the company. In addition to Thonet's comprehensive guiding principles for sustainable action, the company has also set itself numerous goals. The manufacturer aims to achieve a recyclability rate of 95% for its products and to use only certified wood and wood-based materials. Furthermore, goals such as reducing emissions and energy consumption are on the agenda.
