FAQs

A synchronous mechanism allows the seat and backrest to move in a fixed ratio, promoting an ergonomic sitting posture and preventing back problems.
In an office chair with a synchronous mechanism, the backrest tilts much more than the seat. The seat moves with it, but less dramatically. The angle between the upper body and thighs increases visibly.
With the tilt mechanism, the seat and backrest tilt backward together at the same angle. The synchronous mechanism moves both parts synchronously, but at different angles, so that the body angle opens up. This makes the synchronous mechanism more ergonomic and better suited for prolonged sitting.
As a rule, statutory health insurance does not cover office chairs with synchronous mechanisms. Costs may only be covered in individual cases if there is a medically certified medical necessity and the health insurance company approves the application before purchase.
Yes, from an orthopedic point of view, an office chair with synchronous mechanism is useful, especially when sitting for long periods of time. A dynamic sitting posture that relieves strain on the spine and prevents back problems is promoted by the synchronized but differently pronounced movement of the seat and backrest.
