Suspence™ pendant lights by GamFratesi for Fritz Hansen
The Suspence™ range of lights was designed by the designer duo GamFratesi and is produced by the traditional Danish manufacturer Fritz Hansen. The name is a combination of Gam and Fratesi and stands for the two architects Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi. The form of the pendant light in matt aluminium is created by deep drawing, which produces the small curve at the upper end of the body. The pendant lights thus stand in the tradition of organic forms with soft, flowing curves. The Infinity diffuser on the underside of the light concentrates the light and prevents glare. The diffuser can be adjusted so that the beam becomes more directed. The lights are available in different sizes; their distinguishing feature is the loop at the top. The cable is colour-matched to the light in each case; only in the matt brass version is it black. LED or halogen lamps with an E27 thread are suitable.
Suspence™ by GamFratesi
Suspence means tension or suspension – a name that aptly describes this light, combining Scandinavian functionalism with an Italian accent. GamFratesi's design brings together tradition and innovation, experimental production, high-quality materials and traditional craft techniques. The cross-cultural, minimalist design language combined with the dimming function makes the light of interest for the living area as well as the office.
Who is GamFratesi?
Designer Stine Gam, born in Copenhagen in 1975, completed her architecture studies with a master's degree in furniture design. Enrico Fratesi, born in 1978, also studied architecture and graduated with a master's in industrial design. Both worked in Japanese and Scandinavian architectural practices before founding their own joint label and studio in Copenhagen in 2006. The two commute between Italy and Denmark in search of inspiration, new ideas and experimental projects. Their work reflects tradition and plays with the boundary between harmony and disharmony, which gives the Suspence™ its name: tension. GamFratesi's work has been exhibited internationally, including at Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen, the Palazzo Litta in Milan and the Royal Danish Embassy in Tokyo.
