Cantilevers

First-class comfort on cantilever chairs

One of the most successful inventions is undoubtedly the chair without back legs - the cantilever. The cantilever chair began its career with the designers of the Bauhaus and the manufacturer Thonet.

This was followed by models in the 1970s such as the Panton Chair (Verner Panton) and current designs such as the Vitra EVO C by Jasper Morrison, which is 100% recyclable or noble models by Karl-Friedrich Förster Design (KFF).

Cantilever chair in timeless design

The cantilever idea has existed since the 1920s. Designers such as Mart Stam, Marcel Breuer and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe created cantilever chairs that are still very popular today - with metal frames and artificial leather or wickerwork. Thonet, as a manufacturer of tubular steel furniture, plays a special role in the development of chairs and impresses with tubular steel cantilever chairs such as the S32 and S34. Cantilever chairs are also available with wood (S43) or pure materials (natural materials such as wood and leather), including the Thonet cantilever S 32 PV Pure Materials. The cantilever chair was also developed into an armchair, in the store you can also get the Thonet S 35 L armchair and the Thonet S 411 Pure Material armchair, both with matching stool. Today, the swing chair is available not only in black and brown, but in many other colors. The garden chair Thonet cantilever chair S 40 F/S 40 and lounge chair S 35 Thonet All Seasons are also suitable for outdoor use.

Retro furniture from the 1970s

Even after the Bauhaus era, chairs with first-class comfort and great looks have emerged. The absence of the rear legs gives lightness to the chairs and provides a special seating comfort due to their "swinging" compliance. Verner Panton, in collaboration with Vitra, developed the legendary Panton Chair, the plastic cantilever chair made in one piece without a metal frame. The Panton Chairs are washable and are therefore particularly suitable for use as dining chairs.

The latest: cantilever chairs from Karl-Friedrich Förster Design (KFF)

For those who like something special, the fine furniture from Karl-Friedrich Förster Design (KFF) is also recommended. The TEXAS Exclusiv cantilever chair, like the other models from KFF, is made of high-quality buffalo leather, which gives each chair an individual touch.

Modern cantilever chair: the Vitra Evo-C

The Vitra Evo-C designed by Jasper Morrison is available in modern colors, the chair EVO-C offers a strength equal to the tubular steel construction, while all superfluous material was omitted by the designer. The chair is easy to clean and fully recyclable and is therefore considered particularly sustainable.

In the pro office store you will find many other cantilever chairs for use in your own four walls, in the dining room, in the office and also in the outdoor area, also as a set of 2 or 4 and the matching tables.
