Lounge chair in a class of its own

A lounge chair is your best friend after a hard day at work or on a rainy weekend. A hot drink, a good book or a newspaper and the world looks friendlier again. The legs find their place on the accompanying stool and on the backrest you can really relax. The armchair conveys warmth and can be used in private rooms, in the home office or even in the office, because beyond its function it gives status. With swivel function, the lounge armchair also turns into a beautiful TV armchair. The lounge chair has several names, some models can also be called club chair, cocktail chair, relax chair, swivel chair or wing chair.

What is a lounge armchair?

The differences between cocktail, club or lounge armchairs are fluid. These seating furniture all have comfortable upholstery. Lounge chairs usually offer their owner a little more freedom of movement, have comfortable armrests and a medium to high backrest. The lounge chair almost always has a stool that exactly matches the design of the chair. The stool can be used to rest the legs or separately.

Which lounge chairs are available?
In pro office store there are very different lounge armchairs, including real retro classics, contemporary furniture and also pop art models. One of the most famous lounge chairs made of genuine leather with a frame of wood was created in the 1950-ies, it adorned the living room of its two designers, the couple Charles and Ray Eames. Design icons also include the armchair "The Egg" by manufacturer Fritz Hansen, the Egg™ Chair was designed by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen in 1958 for the SAS Hotel in Copenhagen. The organically curved armchair was also intended to guarantee some privacy in a hotel lobby. "The Egg" is available in leather and many upholstery fabrics, including subtle colors like gray, but also splashes of color like spacey coral green.

The most beautiful lounge chairs among the classics

Among the most beautiful lounge chairs, in addition to the Egg™ Chair, is the Vitra Lounge Chair with Ottoman by Charles and Ray Eames, which is considered a masterpiece of furniture history and was created in a lengthy process. High-quality materials and exceptional workmanship characterize this iconic piece of furniture from 1956. The famous Thonet company has also designed lounge chairs or club chairs themselves and also had them designed. The Thonet 808 and 809 lounge chairs come from the Formstelle office of Claudia Kleine and Jörg Kürschner. They are matched by the 1808 and 1809 side tables. The Thonet S 35 L armchair and 930 stool, which was presented as a contribution by the Deutscher Werkbund at the Grand Palais in Paris, come from the company itself. Here, the cantilever chair from the 1930s was given a new look. The Thonet S411 armchair by the Thonet Design Team from the 1932s also has the lightness of the cantilever chair, is made of 14% recycled material and is 99% recyclable.
