Creating well-being with colors

The colors in your home or business reflect your taste, individuality or corporate design. While privately every room can theoretically have a different coat of paint, in the office or home office you usually decide on one color. The chosen color tones have an influence on the well-being of your family or employees and represent the company or private home to the outside world.

The agony of choice

When choosing colors, the goal is to create visual comfort or make a statement, rather than sensory overload. Colors affect mood, emotions, morale and even health. Conversely, color choices should not be made out of a negative mood so as not to negatively impact well-being. Colors work best when limited to three or four tones per room. Variations can be created through nuances. Too many colors make a room look hectic or cluttered. As a tendency, walls in small rooms should be kept light. Brightness is especially important with ceilings, unless the ceilings are very high and you want to visually pull them down a bit.

Quick change with colors

Colors are the cheapest way to make a room look good. If you don't like a color anymore, you can repaint it relatively quickly; it's cheaper than buying new furniture. Our tips: the other definitive effects of a room are the design of the floor, the height of the room and the lighting concept. In most cases, the height of the room cannot be changed, and the design of the floor is usually expensive. A lighting concept, on the other hand, is easily changeable and again has to do with colors - cold light makes people awake, warm light has a relaxing and soporific effect. If you don't feel comfortable at home or in the office, color temperature may also be to blame.

The psychological effect of colors

Every color has a psychological marker and can trigger feelings in people, from gentleness to anger. Authoritative in color research was the Swiss philosopher and psychologist Max Lüscher (1923-2017), who developed the Lüscher Color Test in 1947. The work "The Lüscher Test" was translated into more than 30 languages. In addition to teaching and research, Lüscher advised international companies on their color design.

White like the wall

The classic wall color is white, it is associated with air, openness, clarity, cleanliness, efficiency and health. For smaller spaces, white wall color is the way to go to make them appear larger.

Express luxury with purple and black

Purple and black have a dramatic and luxurious effect. Purple increases alertness, thoughtfulness, and creativity; it also represents spirituality, and a royal life. Black is always good for dramatic effects, it communicates dexterity, comfort and seriousness. Too much black means melancholy and imprisonment. Compromise is a beautiful gray or anthracite.

Designing with red tones

The color red is stimulating, it stands for energy and liveliness. Red increases the pulse and blood pressure and should therefore be applied only to small areas. Its little sister orange stimulates the appetite and offers comfort, sensuality, warmth and security. Pink has a calming effect rather than exciting, the color represents femininity, warmth, tranquility and love.

Yellow like the sun

Yellow brightens up rooms in a friendly way. If it is not too much of a good thing, then this signal color can cause frustration or anger. The right yellow can convey cheerfulness, optimism, confidence, self-esteem and creativity.

Green, green, green are all my clothes ...

Green is associated with relaxation and nature. Green color soothes the eyes, it offers tranquility and strengthening emotions.
